“In my little group chat with my tech CEO friends, there’s this betting pool on when the first one-person, billion-dollar company will emerge.”
— Sam Altman
I love creating. As a developer, nothing quite compares to the joy of building something from scratch and seeing it take form. Over the years, I’ve been part of several startup journeys, mostly as the technical co-founder. In the beginning, I was hesitant to rely on third-party libraries, frameworks, or templates, since it meant stepping into tools I didn’t fully control or understand.
Yet, looking back over the past decade, these choices helped each startup scale faster. When I compare my own code to many open-source contributions, I have to admit that the quality of my early work didn’t match the robustness of the code I once dismissed.
Now, as a founder building my own venture, I’m thrilled by the growing variety of tools and services that can kickstart a business in record time. Many of these solutions provide generous free tiers, allowing entrepreneurs to start something meaningful without upfront costs. Social media, too, has become a resource for discovering invaluable sites and tools that can maximize efficiency, making a single person capable of achieving what used to take an entire team.
With the rise of AI, individual capability has only amplified. Sam Altman even predicts the dawn of “one-person unicorns”—startups led by a single founder reaching valuations above $1 billion. It’s not far-fetched; I’ve managed teams of 30 before, and the power of today’s tools often surpasses what that team could do on an average day.
I’d been quietly curating a list of these tools, always considering how to share them. That’s how Starthub.zip was born—a project dedicated to helping you harness your full productivity potential. With the right tools, maybe you can become a 🦄 one-person unicorn too.
